So I’m back in Morgan Hill for the week of Thanksgiving and I have to tell you, I’m bored senseless. It’s not the same old bored I am at school, because at least back there I can go visit someone or bug Albert for some chuckles. This the boredom that comes with living in a small conservative town where everything closes at 9pm, and everyone seems to be in bed by 11. I really miss San Francisco, but I won’t be back there for another 9 days. Also I fixed some problems I was having with my bank, but I had to close my accounts there and had to find a new bank. A problem with that is the money that the school is giving me for tuition and housing was directly deposited into that account. So as soon as I get back to school I have to go and change where the money goes. I hope that it’s smooth and that Wamu didn’t red tag my accounts so I can open a new one somewhere else. Anyways that’s all I have to report, maybe something interesting will happen while I’m here. Chances are slim though so eh, later days everyone!
PS:I think I will write more of what happened concerning Wamu later. Right now I’m in no mood to vent out all my frustrations with them.

Last night, at around 2am, Phill comes into my room saying he wants to go on an adventure. Well being the bored insomniac that I am, I take him up on his offer and with Matt in tow we are soon on our way. We have no idea where we are going or how we are going to get there but we start off by making a list for our adventure. The list included the following:
- A lighter
- A disposable camera
- Steal something
- Find an artifact
- Find a way to show Matt is an adventure virgin
- Finish this list
- Find a playground
- Climb a tree
- Buy cigarettes
Matt being an adventure virgin (meaning he’d never been on an adventure before) needed a symbol to show that. We found a symbol near Stonestown Mall. It was one of those small flags PG&E used to mark off areas that had electric cables underneath and such so people wouldn’t dig there. We had Matt wave around the flag and patted ourselves on the back for finding such a great symbol. Next we found a half built playground. As we ran towards the swing-set, we realized that they were swings for babies and toddlers so that plan failed. Matt left his flag at the playground and, as punishment, we made him carry a hubcap we found. After 30 minutes of walking down the same road without finding anything of interest, we decided to go left in hopes of finding an open market to buy a camera, the smokes, and (at this point) some food or drinks because we were all pretty hungry and thirsty. Now bear in mind that the road we were going on was 19th avenue, after we went left (and after walking for another hour) we found ourselves on 38th, in the middle of a residential area with no shops around. Deciding to forget the shops we went down another 12 blocks and made it to the beach. The beach at night looks so strange, it made me want to run into the ocean. Becoming instantly bored with nature we walked down the beach back towards school, when I spotted a large shiny thing on the ground. When we shined out cellphones on it we found out it was a large jellyfish that had washed up onto shore. This thing was the size of a basketball, easily making it the largest jelly I’ve ever seen. Again, being instantly bored with nature we continued walking another 30 minutes when we decided to head back home. However when we got back onto the street, we learned that the walk to the beach had been downhill. We had to trek 31 blocks uphill. But somehow (through the blisters and all) we managed to make it back home (and on passing the playground made Matt get his flag) at around 5:50am. Turns out we walked a little over 10 miles last night. Now that was a good adventure.

I have a psych test tomorrow, yet I keep putting off studying. It’s not a smart thing to do since my grade is a shaky C+. But I keep on wasting time watching movies and making faces at Albert while he has his back turned to me, so I guess I’ll have to deal with the consequences when they come. Anyways I think I’m done being a hermit in my room, I realized as much as I miss where I cam from (not necessarily home, but the place itself), it’s all just nostalgia of times long passed. I guess I should have learned this after the time I went home back in October, but I’ve just been feeling so low lately that I just stay in my room all day. That combined with my insomnia equals I get about 3 hours of sleep a night which leaves me feeling even worse. Starting this week, I’m going to not be in my room so much during the day. I mean yeah I’ll be there like after 6 or so, but for the rest of the day I’ll be out and about, maybe around the Student Center more or even the Track (since it’s almost track season in my head). I don’t know I think something about this whole thing has to be done differently.

Music I Heard
Music I heard with you was more than music,
And bread I broke with you was more than bread;
Now that I am without you, all is desolate;
All that was once so beautiful is dead.
Your hands once touched this table and this silver,
And I have seen your fingers hold this glass.
These things do not remember you, beloved,
And yet your touch upon them will not pass.
For it was in my heart that you moved among them,
And blessed them with your hands and with your eyes;
And in my heart they will remember always,
- They knew you once, O beautiful and wise.

So yesterday I partook in the march from the Civic Center to Dolores park in protest of Proposition 8 passing. It was my first time being a part of a protest and let me tell you, the energy in the air was amazing. There was a superb turnout of easily 1,000+ people, all taking to the streets chanting and holding signs in order to protect civil liberties. I went with Krista and a few of her friends from Park (it’s another dorm building next to ours), so the walk felt like nothing at all even though it was really over 4 miles. The amount of supporters along the parade route was again, nothing short of great. People honked, waved, clapped, and even played musical instruments for us. When I got back to my dorm, Matt and Albert were watching “Fight Club” on tv. They noticed that I had several no on prop 8 paraphernalia and Matt (Who like Albert is a conservative and voted yes) asked what I expected to happen. I told him, “Nothing”. Honestly rallies are great and all, but in order to really get anything done you have to take to the courts not the streets for anything to be done. I hope one of the lawsuits against the prop gains some ground and defeats it. Even if it wasn’t Adam and Steve in the beginning, why should they have to believe the same thing as you?

Yesterday was a historic day. I know you’ve been hearing that a lot lately but it’s true. Yesterday for the first time in American history an African-American was elected to the office of President. World leaders rejoiced, the President of Kenya declared Thursday a national holiday, China was eager to discuss international affairs with the new president elect, and the Pope himself asked God to bless the United States. But among the rejoicing and celebrations another historic event happened, one with a less optimistic tone. In California Proposition 8, the Proposition which would amend the state constitution to say that marriage was only between a man and a woman, passed. This means that the state will not recognize any same sex unions. With this defeat, it may be that other states will follow suite and choose to amend their constitutions as well. In my opinion, I cannot honestly believe that we still live in a day in age where people are still so intolerant. Even if your faith was against it, whatever happened to separation of church and state? It was a question of equality, and the campaign for Yes on 8 was by a majority, funded by organizations outside of the state. I would like to be the first to call out shenanigans on this issue! And am calling for an investigation, as to how and why this passed. It honestly makes no logical sense as to how it passed. And although I have regained faith and hope in our government, I have lost faith and pride in people.

If you live in the United States, then today is the day you go out and fulfill your duty as a citizen. Today is the day you choose your new leader for the next 4 years. For those of you who still haven’t voted, go down to your nearest polling place and let your voice be heard. This blogger voted by mail last week just to make sure he was ready. Although I support Obama in this election, I honestly don’t care who you vote for as long as you vote. For those of you at SFSU, if you come to Mary Ward Hall after you vote, to get a free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream cone! I cannot emphasis strongly enough how important it is that we go out and rock the polls today. All those of you always ranting about how much you love freedom, well good keep it that way by voting for someone you believe will help protect your freedom. Tonight the world will watch and so will I, as we pick our next American president.

Halloween this year has probably been my most interesting one. So many things were different this time around. I was finally out with friends (or well Albert’s), I went to a Halloween party where there was drinking, and I was a girl. I was a girl for the first time ever this Halloween and the results were….interesting. Guys kept hitting on me thinking I was the real deal. Zack and Katie (Albert’s best friend and girlfriend) came down and together with some of our neighbors from the 4th floor we headed out to a party nearby. By the time we left, everyone had been pre-gaming and Zack was pretty drunk. When we got to the party, the place was packed and begun to stink after a while because someone puked. While there I also had my first taste of alcohol which I will say was alright, but I don’t see what the big deal is really. People started to leave and we met a guy named Tim Jones who said we could go to his house for shots. We got there and stayed for a while, but were kicked out because his roommates wanted to pass out in peace. I suggested we get back to school since everyone of them were pretty much gone, and I didn’t want anything to happen to them, especially Kendall who was falling over quite a bit. Once back at school we all went our separate ways and eventually all found our way back to our respective rooms.
So yeah like I said, Halloween was odd this year but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be.
Anyways, later days!
