Adventure
Last night, at around 2am, Phill comes into my room saying he wants to go on an adventure. Well being the bored insomniac that I am, I take him up on his offer and with Matt in tow we are soon on our way. We have no idea where we are going or how we are going to get there but we start off by making a list for our adventure. The list included the following:
- A lighter
- A disposable camera
- Steal something
- Find an artifact
- Find a way to show Matt is an adventure virgin
- Finish this list
- Find a playground
- Climb a tree
- Buy cigarettes
Matt being an adventure virgin (meaning he’d never been on an adventure before) needed a symbol to show that. We found a symbol near Stonestown Mall. It was one of those small flags PG&E used to mark off areas that had electric cables underneath and such so people wouldn’t dig there. We had Matt wave around the flag and patted ourselves on the back for finding such a great symbol. Next we found a half built playground. As we ran towards the swing-set, we realized that they were swings for babies and toddlers so that plan failed. Matt left his flag at the playground and, as punishment, we made him carry a hubcap we found. After 30 minutes of walking down the same road without finding anything of interest, we decided to go left in hopes of finding an open market to buy a camera, the smokes, and (at this point) some food or drinks because we were all pretty hungry and thirsty. Now bear in mind that the road we were going on was 19th avenue, after we went left (and after walking for another hour) we found ourselves on 38th, in the middle of a residential area with no shops around. Deciding to forget the shops we went down another 12 blocks and made it to the beach. The beach at night looks so strange, it made me want to run into the ocean. Becoming instantly bored with nature we walked down the beach back towards school, when I spotted a large shiny thing on the ground. When we shined out cellphones on it we found out it was a large jellyfish that had washed up onto shore. This thing was the size of a basketball, easily making it the largest jelly I’ve ever seen. Again, being instantly bored with nature we continued walking another 30 minutes when we decided to head back home. However when we got back onto the street, we learned that the walk to the beach had been downhill. We had to trek 31 blocks uphill. But somehow (through the blisters and all) we managed to make it back home (and on passing the playground made Matt get his flag) at around 5:50am. Turns out we walked a little over 10 miles last night. Now that was a good adventure.
